Marc Copland (born May 27, 1948) is an American jazz pianist and composer.
Copland became part of the jazz scene
as a saxophonist.
Increasingly, Copland was writing music with more complex chords. He came to feel that the sax was not a suitable vehicle to express his musical imagination.
By 1973, he decided to switch to piano, moved to New York, and became one of the best piano players ever.
